FAQ

What is your return policy?

If you are not satisfied or the product is damaged upon arrival, please contact us! You can email us at traditionaltallow@gmail.com.

Where are you located?

We are in Northeast Ohio.

Do you do local pick up?

Yes! If you're local and prefer pickup, please email us.

Will my product melt if it is shipped in the summer?

We use thermal packaging to prevent any issues due to the temperature.

Where do you source your suet?

All of our suet is sourced from small local farms. Sourcing from small local farms is important to us, this allows us to talk directly to the farmer and know exactly how the animals are raised. Our farmers don't use any fertilizers, hormones, pesticides or antibiotics, giving you a clean product for your skin!

What are the differences between the tallow products?

  • Classic Collection: This is our unscented tallow, it is great for babies and adults with sensitive skin. It can be used as a diaper cream and moisturizer for babies. For adults you can use it on your body or face. The only ingredients are tallow and jojoba oil.
  • Soothing Collection: This tallow is scented, it is a great lotion or face moisturizer. We have had customers use this to get rid of cold sores and help minimize bruising/shorten the appearance of bruising. We have had customers use this as a diaper cream for babies and they said it helped immensely.
  • Timeless Collection: This tallow is scented and unscented, it is a great moisturizer for your body or face. It contains ostrich oil and rosehip oil which are anti-aging. This will help with fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, inflammation, bags under the eyes and more!
Do you use a lot of essential oils in your products?
We use a 1% dilution rate or less. It is not recommended to use our scented products on babies 0-3 months old, as they should not have essential oils used on them. If you choose to use our scented products on a child younger than 2 years of age, please test a small amount to see if any reaction occurs. We have had our products used on children under 1 year of age with no problems, but please test a small area first.

The National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy says "Infants, toddlers, and young children are more sensitive to the potency of essential oils and safe dilutions generally range from 0.5 - 2.5% depending on the condition."

What is tallow?

Tallow is rendered beef fat. While tallow can be made from any fat, the best quality tallow is suet. Suet is the fat around the kidneys. It is considered the best quality because it has the most nutrients, especially in grass-fed cattle. Grass-fed cows have more omega-3s, CLA, choline, oleic acid, palmitoleic acid, stearic acid, linoleic acid and more. It also contains fat-soluble vitamins A, D, K, E and B12. Tallow has been used for thousands of years with many applications, one of those applications being skincare. We have stepped away from many of the traditions of our forefathers and replaced natural with chemical. Let's take a step back and care for our skin with organic, natural and clean products once again!
